Hi, it’s Les,
I want to try something new…
There are so many nuggets that come up randomly, out of the blue, and I think, “I must make a note of that for later and send it to my readers”. Of course, I seldom do.
Life happens, my attention goes elsewhere and the pearl of wisdom I wanted to share gets lost in action.
So, I’m trying out a new idea with this “One-minute thought bomb”.
Short, sweet, interesting - that’s the aim!
No particular timings, no particular subject, just bits I think you’ll like.
Here’s the first…
Wish I’d said that!
Every now and then you come across something (unfortunately said by someone else) you wish you’d thought of first. It’s not that you didn’t know and understand what they said, it’d just that they said it in such a way that you’d like to have penned the “smart words” yourself.
I was browsing through LinkedIn, which I’m doing less and less these days (other priorities) when I stumbled across this gem from an old friend of mine, Jacob McMillen.
Jacob is an amazing Writer and Content Strategist who I respect a lot. So much so, I even wrote a guest post (about Upwork) for his blog - was it really as long ago as May 2016?
You can check out the post here, much of what I wrote still holds true!

Back to what he posted on LinkedIn, this was it:
Bad copywriting:
- This is our brand
- This is how great we are
- This is how hard we work
- This is our vague, irrelevant mission
Good copywriting:
- This is your challenge
- This is how we help you solve it
- This is your goal
- This is how we help you achieve it
Wish I’d said that!
